Rwandan ref Mukansanga for 2016 Women AfCON finals

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Rwandan woman referee Salma Rhadia Mukansanga among the referees to officiate at the 10th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament, due in Cameroon from November 19 through December 3.

Mukansanga was named among Africa’s best ten centre referees after she excelled at the CAF Elite Referees course held recently in the Cameroonian capital of Yaounde.

The others include; Maria Packuita Cynquela Rivet (Mauritius), Gladys Lengwe (Zambia), Lidya Tafesse (Ethiopia), Akhona Zennith Makalima (South Africa), Jeanne Ekoumou (Cameroon), Aissata Ameyo Amegee (Togo), Suavis Iratunga (Burundi), Carolyne Wanjala (Kenya), and Tanzania’s Jonesia Rukyaa Kabakama.  Letticia Antonella Viana, from Swaziland, was picked as reserve referee for the tournament.  

The assistant referees are; Queency Victorie (Mauritius), Rahma Alouini (Tunisia), Bernadettar Asimenye Kwimbira (Malawi), Mimisen Agatha Iyorhe (Nigeria), Bielignin Elodie Sophie Some (Burkina Faso), Atezambong Fomo Carine (Cameroon), Josiane Mbakop Nfongan (Cameroon), Mary Njoroge (Kenya), Idrissa Fanta Kone (Mali), Lidwine Rakotozafinoro (Madagascar), Souad Oulhaj (Morocco), Kossonoux Denise Akoua (Cote d’Ivoire) and Adia Isseu Cisse (Senegal). 

Mukansanga started her career in 2007 before becoming an international referee in 2012. 

She has officiated at major tournaments, including Africa U-17 and U-20 finals as well as senior World Cup preliminary games, 2015 All African Games, and the 2015 CECAFA Women Challenge.

The opening match of the 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will pitch hosts Cameroon against Egypt on November 19 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.
