FridayAS Kigali 3-0 Marines APR FC interim head coach Yves Rwasamanzi has admitted his side has a lot to improve on this week heading into their third fixture of the 2016/17 Azam Rwanda Premier League after sharing spoils with Gicumbi FC on Sunday.
The reigning champions squandered an early chance to go top of the league table after they were held to a 1-all draw by hosts Gicumbi at Kigali Regional Stadium.
Pierre Celestin Shyaka scored for the Northern Province side while Muhadjiri Hakizimana earned his new team a point after scoring an equaliser, his second goal this season.
Rwasamanzi admitted that his team was not good enough against Gicumbi – both offensively and defensively.
"We have to move on and focus on working on these issues and get ready for Mukura, our next opponent, who are even a tougher opposition, no time to relax because we need to bounce back, there are a lot of positives we have taken from the Gicumbi game,” he said.
Meanwhile, SC Kiyovu registered their first win of the season edging Amagaju 3-1 at Mumena turf on Sunday, while Wayi Yeka scored a brace as Musanze defeated newly promoted side Pepiniere 2-1 at Nyakinama stadium.
Kevin Ishimwe scored Pepiniere’s consolation goal.
On Saturday, Etincelles and Sunrise maintained their perfect start to the new seaon defeating Mukura 1-0 and Kirehe 1-0, respectively, while Rayon Sports was held to a goalless draw in Rusizi against hosts Espoir with Police bagging their first win of the season from their 2-1 triumph over Bugesera at Kicukiro stadium.
On Friday, AS Kigali had thrashed Marines 3-0.
After day 2, Etincelles and Sunrise are joint leaders with 6 points each. They are followed by title contenders Rayon Sports and APR with four points each. Pepiniere and Amagaju are at the bottom of the table with no point having lost their first two games each.
