RE: "Why France clings on the plane” (The New Times, October 17).

France will continue bothering Rwanda as long as the government in Kigali holds back in indicting French accomplices in the Genocide against the Tutsi. France said in 1994 that the downing of the plane was the spike that ignited the Genocide.

It supported the Genocide and the genocidal regime which was constituted in the French embassy in Kigali; it supported the killing of politicians that were in position to take over from Habyarimana (as the law provided for); it rescued the defeated genocidal regime and forced (then Zaire president) Mobutu (Sese Seko) to import Rwanda’s troubles into the Congo.

So what can this eleventh hour investigation by same France achieve? A renewal of genocide or a resurrection of dead people because France could have made a wrong judgment in first assessment? It is too late.

Rwanda should break relations with France until the current French politicians are no longer in government.

A French army officer specialist in missile launching, Pascal Estreveda, was presented by Belgians as a prime suspect 10 years ago. Why didn’t Rwanda pursue and indict him? I hope Rwanda will put an end to this French arrogance once for all.
