The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza, yesterday, briefed 280 police officers set to be deployed under the United Nations Multidimensional Stabilisation Mission in Central African Republic (CAR).

The officers, organised in two contingents of 140 each, will replace the same number later this week.

DIGP Munyuza urged them to aim for service excellence and professionalism during their mission spell.

"The skills you acquired in your intensive preparations for this mission should be put to effective use. The predeployment training was designed in line with the peacekeeping standards which you must observe to the best of your ability,” he said.

He urged them to keep up the good conduct they exhibited during their preparations."Your country and Rwanda National Police (RNP), in particular, have full trust in you. Remember your conduct and professionalism will depict the image and values of Rwandans…ensure your performance is exceptionally good and maintain the same spirit to the end of the mission,” said the deputy Police chief.

He reminded them that Rwandan peacekeepers are known for their professionalism, discipline, teamwork and alertness, and urging them to uphold that reputation.

Munyuza told the officers that respecting each other and hard work should be part of their guiding tool to mission excellence. 

Currently, RNP maintains over 1,000 officers in different peacekeeping missions around the world.
