Marie Jeanne Niyigena, from Gatenga in Kicukiro District, has won first a motorcycle in the ongoing Rwanda Revenue Authority ‘Tombola Izihirwa’ raffle competition. 

The promotion seeks to encourage buyers to ask for Electronic Billing Machines (EBMs) receipts for any transactions carried out. The initiative is also geared at ensuring traders and service providers use the machines, according to Emmy Mbera, EBM project co-ordinator at RRA. 

"I never used to ask for receipts whenever I bought goods, but when I heard about the promotion recently, I started asking for them to test if it works. My wining receipt was worth Rwf4,000,” Niyigena said while receiving the motorcycle at RRA head offices.

"I urge other consumers to make it a habit to always ask for the receipts for all their transactions,” she added.

Mbera said consumers stand to win motorcycles, flat iron, cars and smart phones worth Rwf20.5 million during the promotion. 

This is the second edition of the promotion following the one of last year. To participate, consumers can send their EBM receipt numbers to *800# using their mobile phones, on any telecom company.
