This year’s Carre d’As handball tournament will take place today at Kimisagara Youth Centre ground, starting with the semi-final in the morning and the final late in the afternoon.
The annual tournament attracts the top four teams in the national league, which are Police (champions), APR, Ecole Secondaire Kigoma and College Inkeramihigo.
Police, fresh from clinching their fifth league title last week, will face off College Inkeramihigo at 9am seeking to win the title for the fifth time after 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.
APR, who finished second in the league, will lock horns with Ecole Secondaire Kigoma at 10:20am with each team hoping to make it to the final.
Police won the 2016 national league despite drawing 31-31 against APR in the final match of the season played last Sunday, hence finishing on top of the league table with 49 points, two ahead of APR, who last won the league in 2009.
Ecole Secondaire Kigoma finished in third place with 32 points and College Inkeramihigo came in fourth position with 28 points.
