Female student leaders from higher learning institutions in Rwanda have been told to use their leadership skills to promote good service delivery.

The call was made by Ambassador Fatuma Ndangiza, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) during a one-day workshop on women engagement in good governance and service delivery at Hilltop hotel on Sunday.

Speaking to 70 female representatives from higher learning institutions, Ndangiza pointed out that women at all levels have an obligation to transform society.

"As leaders, you can educate society about providing good services. The biggest asset women have is that they exhibit greater leadership skills in society. This should be the basis for promoting good service delivery in all areas,” she said.

She further noted that unless female leaders in higher institutions of learning join the struggle, achieving sustainable development would be difficult.

"Women must ensure that development plans are effectively implemented. This can also help us achieve our vision 2020,” she noted.

Meanwhile, Justus Kangwage, the head of Good Governance and Decentralization Unit at Rwanda Governance Board remarked that female leaders ought to work collectively to eradicate the nightmare of human trafficking. 

"Many of the female victims are being lured with huge sums of money offered by traffickers. This is one of the problems, women must address. As leaders you must unite to win this fight,” she remarked. 

Cindy Hortence Niwemfura 24, a leader of a girls Forum at ISEKA, urged other women to participate in positive transformations that promote quality service delivery within society.

"Women should not only think about their beauty. They need to look beyond because a good woman is one who brings positive change to society,” Niwemfura said.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old, Illuminee Nyiraneza, the Secretary of Girl Leaders Forum (GLF), called for more efforts in fighting negative beliefs about women to improve their contribution towards promoting service delivery.
