Gasabo-based Fly Cycling Club, in collaboration with Rwanda Cycling Federation and SKOL, will organise a one-day competition on October 15 aimed at scouting for future riders for the club.
The race will include both male and female cyclists and will be held in Gacuriro, Gasabo District. The competition is aimed at promoting cycling among young Rwandans.
According to the organisers, the riders, who will compete, must be under the age of 20 years and will have to register with FERWACY offices at Amahoro National Stadium. Registration is free but the interested riders will be required to bring either a national identity card or a student card
Fly Cycling Club president, Bosco Ntembe said, "We need to get riders to join the club, so we want to get the best young talent from around Kigali and we will continue to follow them to make sure they fulfill their potential.”The successful riders will be able to compete against opponents from various clubs in country including; Les Amies Sportif de Rwamagana, Benediction Club of Rubavu, Cine Elmay of Nyamirambo, Huye Cycling Club for All and Kiramuruzi Cycling Club, among others.
Among Fly Cycling Club top riders is Elly Hitimana and Ali Fidele Dukuzumuremyi, who, unfortunately have not been capped by Team Rwanda.
