RE: "Agric grappling with funding, research deficits, says minister” (The New Times, October 7). This is an alarming situation. The project should strengthen capacities of higher learning institutions to tackle challenges of ability to elaborate fundamental research studies that respond to the needs of the individual farmers and farmers cooperatives. Similar interventions would be very helpful if the focus was benefitting farmers than just academic journals.
