Team Rwanda Cycling jet off to Cameroon for Chantal Biya race

Team Rwanda Cycling jetted out of the country to Cameroon on Saturday where they will take part in the Grand Prix Chantal Biya scheduled for October 13-16 while another team will compete in the UCI World Championships in Doha, Qatar from October 10-16.

Team Rwanda Cycling jetted out of the country to Cameroon on Saturday where they will take part in the Grand Prix Chantal Biya scheduled for October 13-16 while another team will compete in the UCI World Championships in Doha, Qatar from October 10-16.

The riders, who will race in Grand Prix Chantal Biya includes; Nathan Byukusenge (team captain), Ephrem Tuyishimire, Samuel Mugisha, Jeremy Karegeya and Bike Aid rider Jean Bosco Nsengimana.

"We have prepared for these events in the best way possible, the training camps we were involved in have been going well and I believe we are in a position to challenge for top spots,” said Byukusenge.

The team to Cameroon is accompanied by Felix Sempoma as director of the team, Obed Ruvogera as soigneur and Issa Ntibitura (mechanic).

Meanwhile, the team to the World Championships will feature Joseph Areruya, Valens Ndayisenga and Jean Claude Uwizeye, who will compete in the U-23 Road Race. Ndayisenga will also race in the Individual Time Trial.

Bonaventure Uwizeyimana will represent Rwanda in the Elite Men’s Road Race and Beatha Ingabire will race in the Elite Women’s Road Race. For the first time, Rwanda will also have a junior rider, Rene Ukiniriwabo for both the Road Race and ITT.

The team in Doha will be under the guidance Team Rwanda Cycling technical director, Jonathan Boyer and Jamie Bissell (mechanic).
