Reigning Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi is in France where she is expected to sign a deal with United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to support three of her projects.

The beauty queen, who has initiated several projects, will receive funds to support mainly the Agaciro Kanjye (My dignity campaign), support to ex-combatants and fighting malnutrition in children.

"It was a great honour and pleasure for a young lady like me representing most of my country's generation to partner with such a large institution as UNESCO. I presented to them my projects and they were very interested and ready to work with me,” Mutesi said.

The beauty queen noted that UNESCO appreciated the power behind beauty queens in transforming the society.

Her Agaciro Kanjye campaign aims at sensitising Rwandans especially the youth about culture, in particular the culture of peace and Rwandan values as part of their identity. She has also been able to provide 120 infants with milk in her efforts to fight malnutrition and also supports ex combatants so that their patriotism spirit can remain a beacon of inspiration to the young generation.

Some of her other projects include fundraising for education, sensitising youth against drug abuse, advocating for domestic tourism and providing health insurance to vulnerable Rwandans.

Besides partnering with UNSECO, the beauty queen also met with reigning Miss France, Iris Mittenaere, and the two agreed to develop a new project that will see both countries benefit from it. 

"It was a good experience meeting and sharing ideas as beauty queens who advocate for social causes. I’m positive that combining our efforts and partnership would have a big impact on our countries,” she said.
