RE: "Why we must not sit back when African heroes are attacked by racist ideologues” (The New Times, September 30).

I would like, through this forum to respond to Mwene Kalinda. There is a name for these much reviled creatures: anthropocene.

I hear him loud and clear – my sentiments exactly. But I feel these expert cowboys are onto something wildly sinister with their R&D on AI and related disciplines. Perhaps history will paint our present day age as the calm before the storm.

For unless their fellow tribesmen, left behind by globalisation and wallowing in a diminishing standard of living, come forth and revolt (French Revolution – the sequel), human nature is doomed.

Their hunger for data and associated analytics is going to bring us to a boil pretty soon, unless of course their fellow western pitchforks come out in numbers and challenge neo-liberalism. They crave mastery and control of the human species.
