MUKURA Victory Sports head coach Godfroid Okoko has said his side is ready and in good shape for the upcoming national football league 2016/2017 season set to kick-off on October 14.
Mukura who finished third with 60 points last season, have stepped up their preparations to win the league after defying odds to make it to the top four in the 2015/2016 season, ahead of the likes of AS Kigali, Police FC and SC Kiyovu among other traditional league giants.
Mukura sent a warning shot to archrivals about their readiness for the new season after holding giants Rayon Sports 2-2 in a friendly match on Sunday at Huye stadium. Kevin Hakizimana scored a brace for Mukura while Ange Mutsinzi and Pierrot Kwizera netted for The Blues.
"After a number of preseason friendly games, now I can confirm we are ready for the new season. We have prepared well and I am very happy for the team I have right now,” the former Amagaju and Musanze FC technician added.
Okoko said, "We are done, no more friendly games. We have had enough in the last few weeks. Players are in great shape and upbeat for new season.”
After a great performance last season, Mukura will be seeking to make one step better this season for a historic first league title.
In the 2016/17 premier league, there will be two new sides Kirehe and Pepinieee FC who have replaced AS Muhanga and Rwamagana City which were relegated to lower division league.
