Rwandans are eager to stump their authority in the two-day International Beach Volleyball Championship which gets underway today at Lido beach, Entebbe, Uganda.

Five local teams have lined up for the Shs8m tournament which has also attracted teams from Kenya and the hosts, Uganda.

Last year, Rwanda’s duo of Eliya Mutabazi (in France for further studies) and Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma claimed the men’s title which partly explains the increase in the number of teams.

In Mutabazi’s absence, Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma has teamed up with Flavier Ndamukunda as he plots to retain the men’s crown.

Pierre Marshall Kwizera and Alexis Nkuranga form the other men’s team.

Lady teams include; MTN Beach volleyball champions Emmilienne Uwineza and Jeanette Niyitegeka, Denise Mukarukundo and Josee Mukeshingabire and Nadine Mwiseneza and Anne Uwitije.
