Telugu Royals Cricket Club captain Ramu Morampudt has said that team spirit was key to his team’s success in the 2016 Computer Point T20 tournament.

Telugu Royals beat RCA-Devt team by 5 wickets

Telugu Royals Cricket Club captain Ramu Morampudt has said that team spirit was key to his team’s success in the 2016 Computer Point T20 tournament.

Morampudt made the remarks after his team had been crowned champions after defeating RCA-development team by 5 wickets on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket ground.

"I congratulate my teammates for the good performance not only today but throughout the tournament, they have sacrificed a lot to be here today, and attribute our success to great team spirit,” he noted.

Tournament debutants RCA Devt team won the toss and decided to bat first; making 129 runs in the allotted 20 overs for a loss of 4 wickets.

Bosco Tuyizere, the RCA-development team opening batsman who also doubles as the team skipper, was outstanding for his team as his 34 runs from 33 balls caused the opponent to shudder a little in the first inning. He was well supported by David Uwimana, who scored 32 runs in 41 balls and Eric Niyomugabo who also put on 29 runs off 30 balls before he was caught by Terugu’s Eric Ndangamyambi in the 10th over.

Adelin Tuyizere took 2 wickets, while Niyomugabo and Prince Manishaka claimed one wicket a piece.

In the second inning, Terugu Royals CC made a good chase and put 133 runs in 18.4 overs. The great partnership between Rashi Arya and Jyothi Basu Ravula that produced 64 runs was instrumental in the team’s victory. Yogesh Dilip took 2 wickets while Morampudt claimed 1 wicket.

On the way to the their first title, Telugu Royals beat Impala Titans, Indorwa Cricket Club and Kigali Cricket Club as well as defending champions Challengers CC before eventually overcoming RCA-Devt team in Sunday’s final.
