Rwanda U23 women national team has started preparing for the 2016 Women’s U23 African Nations Volleyball Championship, which will be held at Kasarani Indoor Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya from October 18-28.
The team, which is under the tutelage of head coach Paul Bitok has begun daily non-residential training at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. The team will enter the residential camp on September 27.
Rwanda will be playing against the likes of Kenya, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Botswana, Senegal and Cape Verde, who have all confirmed their participation. The championship is open to players born on 1st January 1995 or after.
According to the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) secretary general, Christian Hatumimana, the team started early preparation as they will be looking for better results in Nairobi.
Kenya will host the second edition of the continental age-grade category championship after the first one held in Algeria in 2014—the tournament will also act as a qualifier for the 2017 FIVB World Championships.
