Nigerian singer-songwriter and guitarist Jones Keziah is today expected in the country ahead of his show scheduled on Sunday.

Keziah will perform at Ubumwe Grande Hotel rooftop in Kigali.

Keziah sings about humanity, social issues, colonialism and about deep subjects but still manages to keep it funky and original because he has a lot of skills as a guitarist and songwriter.

He expressed his excitement to entertain Rwandans to his best, saying he was ready for the show.

"I am so excited to come to Rwanda for it is my first time and I have the best music selected for you. Just come and feel the best of what I have prepared for you,” says Keziah.

Born Olufemi Sanyaolu, the 48-year-old describes his musical style as Blufunk, which is a fusion between raw blues elements and hard, edgy funk rhythms. He is also a great painter, a poet, a playwright and an educator. The guitarist also taught himself how to play at a young age and grew to become the legend he is today.

The Son of Africa, as he is fondly known to many, is unconventional that not only did he add a new genre to the world repertoire, the Blufunk which heavily rests on his guitar strumming style, a guitar maker company had to create the perfect guitar to accommodate the move of his fingers.

According to Eric Karengera Kirenga, one of the organisers, Keziah’s show is aimed at giving Rwandans a feel of the obscure legend.

"I think it is very important for a successful music career to be based on skills, talent, individuality and originality which Keziah represents. He has managed to build a worldwide fan base,” said Kirenga, commonly known as Eric Soul.

Besides his solo show in Kigali, Keziah Jones is bringing his fellow Nigerian songstress Nneka to Rwanda, as both artists are working on multi media creative and social project called #lagosunderground. Both artists are very youth-orientated and will be conducting free masterclass/workshop on September 26 at the Nyundo School of Music, in western town of Gisenyi, Rwanda.

The concert will begin at exactly 6 pm. Tickets go for $35 (about Rwf30,000) and are available at 4G Square, Cafe Neo, Shokola at Kimihurura and Inzora Cafe.
