Reigning Miss Rwanda 2016, Jolly Mutesi, is in Europe on a month-long tour to promote Miss Rwanda projects and partnerships with international brands.
The tour marks the first leg of her ‘Agaciro Kanjye’ campaign launched recently, that aims to promote and restore traditional Rwandan culture and values among Rwandans.
The tour included a visit to Sebapharma, a German company which manufactures medicinal skin care products on Sunday. The company has business interests in Rwanda.
"My trip in Germany, particularly to the Sebapharma industry is aimed at strengthening the relationship in terms of partnerships with the Miss Rwanda projects and investing in our country,” Mutesi told The New Times in a phone interview.
She will also meet Rwandans living in Germany before visiting France, Belgium and Holland, where she will sensitise the Rwandan Diaspora about embracing the Rwandan values as their identity.
"I want to sensitise the Rwandan Diaspora, especially the youth about embracing Rwandan values as their identity because wherever they are, they portray Rwanda’s image,” she said.
The 19-year-old beauty queen has just concluded her trip to America where she was invited to speak about the country’s culture and the tourism sector at Africa is the Future, festival.
The festival was organised by Ugandans living in North America under their umbrella UNAA Causes, with the aim to provide a platform for compelling entrepreneurship ideas, exposure to business opportunities in East Africa, and tourism promotion.
Mutesi is also set to participate in Miss World beauty pageant scheduled for December 20, 2016, in Washington DC, United States. She will be the first Miss Rwanda to take part in the prestigious global beauty pageant.
