Ntagengwa and Kavalo retain Beach Volleyball Circuit title

University of Kibungo Volleyball Club duo of Olivier Ntagengwa and Patrick Kavalo retained the Beach Volleyball Circuit title after defeating Uzziel Ndahimana and Olivier Rulinda in the final 2-0 (21-17 and 21-15) on Sunday in Rubavu District.

University of Kibungo Volleyball Club duo of Olivier Ntagengwa and Patrick Kavalo retained the Beach Volleyball Circuit title after defeating  Uzziel Ndahimana and Olivier Rulinda in the final 2-0 (21-17 and 21-15) on Sunday in Rubavu District.

The winning pair reached the final after overcoming Elie Mutabazi and Flavien Ndamukunda in the semi-final, while Uzziel Ndahimana and Olivier Rulinda defeated Fiston Uwimana and Jean Claude Uwihirwe.

Ntagengwa and Kavalo took home Rfw200, 000 while Ndahimana and Rulinda got Rwf150, 000 whereas Mutabazi and Ndamukunda pocketed Rwf100, 000.

This victory rounds off what has been an excellent season for Ntagengwa and Kavalo, who also won the league, Genocide Memorial tournament, KAVC Memorial tournament and Carre d’AS tourney with University of Kibungo.

Ntagengwa, after winning two-day tournament held on the shores of Lake Kivu, said, "This has been an exciting year for us, probably the best ever.”

The former NUR and Rayon Sports player added: "People make plans, the implementation goes on and sometimes not as well as you planned but finally you reach your goals.”

In the women category, Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denise Mutatsimpundu also retained their title after beating Belyse Irakoze and Claudine Musanabageni of Ruhango Volleyball Club; 2-0 in the final.

Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denise Mutatsimpundu got Rwf200,000 for their effort while the beaten finalists took Rwf150,000 while the APR pair of Bertille Umutoni and Angelique Uwibambe took third place and received Rwf100,000.

Julius Kansiime Kagarama and Pascal ‘Domingo’ Tuyishime took the veteran men’s title after beating former national team players; Alexi Nkuranga and Jean Pierre Ngirimana 2-0 while Scholastic Nidukuze and Gertrude Kubwimana won the veteran women’s category.
