Children as young as three years will today perform in a show dubbed, Special Cultural Show at Hôtel des Mille Collines. 

The traditional Rwandan dance gala is organised by Ange Marie Inyamibwa Sentore, the daughter of legendary musician, the late Athanase Sentore.

Over 30 children were extensively trained in dynamic traditional music and dance styles like Gutagurira, Gushagirira and Ibyihuta, locally known as Gakondo, since May last year. 

"We are hopeful that the show will be unique given the fact that these kids were given comprehensive training not only in dancing but also in other fields concerning culture and traditions. I spent a lot of time interacting with them, teaching them discipline and other important aspects and values of being a Rwandan,” said Inyamibwa.

With her experience working with the national ballet Urukerereza for more than five years, children were able to learn a lot from her. 

The young performers, who are under the new dance troupe, Abangakurutwa Cultural troupe, will inspire young Rwandans to love and get to know more about their tradition and culture.

"The formation of this dance troupe of young people was inspired by my own travel experience across different parts of the world especially in Canadian communities where Rwandans are based. For the10 years I lived there, I realised that young Rwandans lack a lot, and I felt I could inspire change,” she noted.

"People should expect nothing but the best from the Abangakurutwa Cultural troupe and what Rwanda offers in terms of culture,” she added.

Tickets cost Rwf10,000 (regular seats) and Rwf20,000 for the family of four.
