Rwanda women football national team head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu has called for more games after suffering early exit from the ongoing CECAFA Women Championship in Uganda.

She-Amavubi lost 3-2 to Ethiopia in their final Group B match on Wednesday in Njeru, Buikwe district in Eastern Uganda—this came two days after the team had also lost to Tanzania by the same score line.

Nyinawumuntu said although her team lost both games in the group, she is happy with the experience and exposure that her players gained. "We are happy that our young girls have now played some international matches,” she said after the game.

"We tried our best to win both games but we failed due to lack of experience. We have spent two years without any competition and yet other teams were playing, but that’s not excuse, what we have to do is to organise more games for our players,” she added.

Losa Abera gave Ethiopia the lead after 3 minutes with a well-placed low shot but Rwanda fought back to level matters through Dorothee Mukeshimana after 45 minutes. The game went into the interval at 1-1.

In the second-half, Ethiopia netted the second goal on the 63rd minutes through Abera again but skipper Gloria Sifa Nibagwire leveled for Rwanda again, before Kano Msekerem netted the winner on the 70th minute that gave Ethiopia maximum points and sent Rwanda packing out of the tournament.

The result means both Tanzania and Ethiopia, who play their last group game on Friday, are through to the semi-finals.
