Rwanda women sitting volleyball team continued to stumble in their Rio debut after losing all their group stage matches at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games in Brazil.

Peter Karreman’s team lost against the United States of America in straight sets 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Riocentro-Pavilion 6. Rwanda lost the first set 25-10 while the second set ended 25-8 and the third was even worse with the debutants losing it 25-3.

It was the third successive loss for the African representatives, who also lost to defending champions China 3-0 in the first match (25-3, 25-8 and 25-6) on Saturday while on Monday, they again lost 3-0 (25-10, 25-19 and 25-18) to the 2015 Para Volley Asia-Oceania silver medalist Iran.

This means that Rwanda has finished bottom of Group B which is led by China followed by USA while Iran comes in third.

China and USA have qualified for the semi-finals while Rwanda and Iran will now play in the classification matches that start today.

Meanwhile, hosts Brazil topped Group A ahead of Ukraine, with the Netherlands coming third while Canada finished bottom. The bronze medal and gold medal matches are scheduled for this Saturday.
