Multi-award winning Kenyan afro-pop band, Sauti Sol, is set to perform in Kigali this coming weekend.

The concert will take place on Saturday, September 17 at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village, best known as Camp Kigali.

The gig is part of Sauti Sol’s Africa tour dubbed, ‘Live and Die in Afrika’, which has seen them perform in Uganda, South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland.

The tour seeks to promote the band’s latest album titled, "Live and Die in Afrika”.

The Kenyan quartet will perform alongside local artistes Neptunez band, Yvan Buravan, 3 Hills, S.A.M, DJ Miller, and DJ Toxxyk.

"Concertgoers should expect the best from the group,” said Remy Lubega, the director of Neptunez band.

Gates will be open from 6p.m to 11p.m and tickets will go for Rwf10,000 (regular seats) and Rwf400,000 (VIP tables of eight people with drinks).

In 2016, Sauti Sol made history by being the first Kenyan artistes to carry out a successful nationwide tour. Comprising Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Austin Chimano, Polycarp Otieno and Savara Mudigi, the group mixes their soulful voices with vocal harmonies, guitar riffs and drum rhythm.

Sauti Sol blends warm resonant pop with traditional Kenyan influences. Their mixture of energetic rhythms has promoted the group to become one of Africa’s most celebrated and East Africa’s pioneers of a fresh sound that has inspired the sprouting of many other bands from East Africa.

Some of the group’s popular tracks include ‘Live and Die in Africa’, ‘Africa’, ‘Nerea’, ‘Shake Yo Bam Bam’, and ‘Unconditionally Bae’ among  many more.

The band has had successful performances across Africa, in Europe and US, topped Kenyan charts, and won accolades, such as Kisima Music Awards, Channel O Music Video Awards, MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act and BET Awards.
