The next edition of Kigali Jazz Junction will be graced by Ugandan-Rwandan  singer, Lilian Mbabazi.

The show will be held at Serena Hotel, on September 30 and the former Blu3 singer will be the lead act.

According to Remmy Lubega, the CEO of RG Consult, which organizes Kigali Jazz Junction, the decision to bring Mbabazi was because she has a huge fan base in Rwanda.

"She has recently completed her new album, and we wanted her to share her new songs with Rwandan fans in this country which she considers home,” Lubega told The New Times.

"Hey Kigali, see you soon! Kigali I am home this September for the Jazz Junction. I can’t wait,” expressed Mbabazi through both her twitter and Instagram accounts.

Earlier on  September 3, she was also invited to host the 3rd Rwanda Connect Party at V Lounge Forest Mall in Kampala.

The 32-year-old singer, who rose to fame as a member of Blu3, the all-girl band which conquered Ugandan airwaves in the early 2000’s, was one of the featured artistes in the second season of "Coke Studio Africa”.

In Rwanda she is known for her songs including Kawa, Vitamin, Danger, Yegwe Weka, which she collaborated with Rwanda’s Kitoko Bibarwa, and currently Memories among others.

The defunct Blu3 was made up of  Lillian, Cinderella Sanyu and Jackie Chandiru.

The trio emerged out of a Coca Cola talent search and registered musical success, winning the Best Artist/Group from Uganda & Best Music Video from Uganda in the 2005 Kisima Music Awards, Video of the Year ("Hitaji”) in the 2005 Pearl of Africa Music Awards and Video of the Year ‘Burrn’ in the 2007 Pearl of Africa Music Awards.

However in 2010, signs of breaking up began to emerge, with Cindy departing first to pursue a solo career. She was replaced by Mya but a couple of years later the group broke up completely.

Lilian by far remains the most stable member of the group, maintaining regular performances with her band The Sundowners as well as doubling as a radio presenter.

Other confirmed performers include Neptunez Band and Makumbi Sound.
