Rwanda Women football team coach Grace Nyinawumuntu has urged her players to be focused ahead of the 2016 CECAFA Women’s Championships scheduled to take place from September 11-20 in Jinja, Uganda.
On Friday, Nyinawumuntu summoned 26 players to join camp for preparations ahead of the inaugural regional Women Championship.
She-Amavubi reported to camp on Sunday evening ahead and star training today at Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo.
Rwanda will face Tanzania and Ethiopia in the group stages. She-Amavubi will be looking to register maximum points to finish on top of the group in order to advance to the semi finals.
"We have to give our best against Tanzania and Ethiopia, and winning these games will give us more confidence and a chance of qualifying to the semi-finals. We have a chance to earn points. We will have to stay focused and avoid making unnecessary mistakes,” she said.
Nyinawumuntu will be assisted by Musanze FC coach Sosthene Habimana and goalkeeper’s coach, Jean-Claude Maniraguha.
The tournament will kick off on September 11. Semi-final fixtures are set for September 18 while the final and third-place play-off are scheduled on September 20.
