Dennis Muganza Kayonga is in for the experience of a lifetime after being invited to curtain-raise for American rapper T-Pain at the 2016/2017 Fall concert. The concert will be held today at the State University of New York in Oneonta, U.S.

The singer, better known by his stage name Darkecy, is a Rwandan music student at the State University of New York in Oneonta. He has performed and also curtain-raised for other renowned American rappers like Big Sean and Kid Ink.

It’s definitely going to be a big opportunity for the young talented artiste and a chance to let a critical audience see him perform.

"Being a student opener means a lot to me because my campus of over 6000 people voted for me. As someone who is also looking to become a performer as a profession, this is a great stepping stone that could open doors to even bigger and better opportunities,” he told The New Times.

The 22-year-old singer is the founder of Dark Matter Entertainment, a record label and events company he formed in 2011 and has made collaborations with budding Rwandan artistes like Mike Kayihura and Angel Mutoni, among others.

Darkecy sings in Kinyarwanda, French and English and fuses traditional and modern instruments to produce a unique style. He encourages his fellow Rwandan artistes to mix languages and fuse traditional and Western instruments to make Rwandan music more marketable around the globe.
