Rwanda U-19 men’s national cricket team is set to compete in this year’s ICC U-19 Division 2 World Cup qualifier tournament which is scheduled to take place from September 10-18 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Rwanda U-19 men’s national cricket team is set to compete in this year’s ICC U-19 Division 2 World Cup qualifier tournament which is scheduled to take place from September 10-18 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Rwanda has been an active member in this particular competition for the last five years, having participated in it in 2009 (Mozambique), 2010 (Swaziland), 2013 (South Africa) and 2014 in Zambia. Rwanda finished as first runners up twice in 2010 and 2014.

Rwanda will play Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zambia and the best two teams will qualify for the World Cup qualifier Division One which will also be played in South Africa next year from which the best team will play at the U-19 World Cup.

National team coach Davis Turinawe has already named the 14-player squad which is currently undergoing rigorous training at the Kicukiro cricket ground.

The U-19 team has been together for the last four months, competing in the ongoing Computer Point T20 tournament as ‘RCA Development Team’ and they are in the final where they will face Telugu Royals.

"These are the same players that have played so well in the U-19 triangular tournament in Nairobi and they have also been outstanding in the Computer Point tournament, so we expect them to do well in South Africa,” said Turinawe.

Ochide Tuyisenge, John Bosco Uwizeye, Manassey Iyamuremye, Charles Karasira, Yvan shema, Patrick Inyamibwa, Modeste Murangwa, Amitie Iradukunda, Aime Nkurayija, Mubarak Ndambendore, Brian Kayitare, Jean Paul Komezamuheto, Kevin Irakoze and Chancellier Nzabarinda.
