United Generation Basketball Club (UGB), a local top flight club is set to host the third edition of the Legacy Basketball Tournament, from October 21-30.
The nine-day tournament is organized in partnership with Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba), and will attract various local and foreign clubs.
The showpiece takes place annually since 2018, and is aimed at honouring the founders and educators who established UGB and pioneered its legacy of promoting, developing and empowering future leaders and athletes through the game of basketball.
This is the first time that foreign clubs will be playing at the tournament.
The foreign clubs have not yet been confirmed, but according to Jean-Luc Cyusa, the President of UGB, they will be specifically from the East African region.
The competition will feature various categories: men, women, veterans and juniors categories.
In total, ten teams will participate in the men’s category. These will include eight local clubs and two foreign ones.
In the women’s category, five teams will rub shoulders. Four of these will be local, while one will be foreign.
For the veterans’ category, four local teams and two foreign ones will rub shoulders, while the juniors’ competition will feature school teams and academies.
