Mukura Victory Sport head coach Godfroid Okoko has revealed that his immediate wwtarget is to end the league title drought at the Huye-based club.

The Burundian tactician, who joined the club early 2015, signed a one-year contract extension with Mukura that will see him take charge of the club until the end of next season.

"I held negotiations with the club officials and signed a one-year contract… we have already started preparations for next season,” said Okoko in an interview with Times Sport.

After finishing third last season with 60 points one behind second and peace cup winners Rayon Sport and league champions APR that had 67 points, Okoko is buoyant his side will be up to the challenge and the league title will be their main target.

"We had a good campaign last season and even had a chance to win the title but unfortunately we missed out towards the end, but this season we hope to impress and we have already begun daily training sessions,” he added

The club has so far been involved in two pre-season friendly matches against AS Vita Club of DR Congo; over the weekend which ended 2-0 before drawing 1-1 on Tuesday at Huye Stadium.

In a bid to build a strong squad, the team has so far signed six players that include Christophe Bukuru, Patrick Ndikumana, Fabien Bagirayezu and Hassan Jumaine all from Rwamagana City FC while Hamidu Simpenzwe and Hassan Rugirayabo crossed from league archrivals Marines FC and were all signed on a two-year contract.

Mukura have lost two star players namely left-back Celestin Ndayishimiye and Muhadjiri Hakizimana who joined Police and APR respectively, but the club is confident the gap left by the two vastly talented players will be sealed.
