The club also announced that they have acquired the services of Sudanese player Doris Simon Woduapai.
Bennie Axella Kana, the General Secretary of Rayon Sports WFC, told Times Sport that the new signings were made to strengthen the team’s squad ready to fight for titles ahead of the second round of the league.
"Yes, we have signed the three players. We have been training together for a few days, and our goal is to win the all titles and qualify for the Champions League," Kana explained.
Rayon Sports WFC were promoted to the topflight league at the end of the 2022/23 season. Despite the fact that it is their first season in topflight football, the Bules are determined to challenge AS Kigali WFC who have been dominating women's football in Rwanda over the past decade.
Kayitesi, a talented midfielder, was one of the standout players in AS Kigali and she is widely regarded as one of the best in the league.
She and Uwimbabazi join a list of AS Kigali players who have joined the ‘Blues’ in the past 12 months. Others include Sifa Uwanyirigira, Dorothée Mukeshimana, Joselyne Mukantaganira, Jeannette Mukeshimana, and Alice Kalimba.
The first round of the season left Rayon Sports WFC sitting in second place on the league table with 28 points, level on points with AS Kigali who lead the table standings on goal difference.
