The prices of Irish potatoes and passion fruits have gone up in most city markets, a mini-survey by Business Times indicates. 

A kilogramme of Irish potatoes now costs Rwf400 a kilogramme in all the main markets in Kigali city from Rwf320, that of passion fruits goes for Rwf1,400 per kilo up from Rwf1,200 last week.

Tomatoes cost Rwf8,000 per basin in Kimironko market from Rwf7,800, indicating an increase of Rwf200.

However, the price of mangoes remained stable at Rwf1,300 a kilo, that of oranges is at Rwf1,200, while fresh peas go for Rwf1,400 and fresh beans are at Rwf500 per kilo. Sweet potatoes cost Rwf280 per kilogramme, unchanged from last week, the price of bananas (plantains) is at Rwf280 a kilo and millet flour costs Rwf1,200 a kilo in most city markets.

Cassava flour is between Rwf350 and Rwf400 per kilogramme in Nyabugogo market and cabbages range from Rwf200 to Rwf300 each, carrots go for Rwf600 per kilo, and a kilo of tomato tree (ibinyomoro) cost Rwf1,300 in Nyarugenge market.

Sugar is at Rwf800 per kilogramme, rice (Thailand) costs Rwf800, while that from Pakistan goes for Rwf750 a kilo.

The price of beef is also stable at Rwf2,400 per kilo, bread (kilogramme) ranges from Rwf700 to Rwf2,200, depending on the brand, type in Nyarugenge and Kimironko.

A sack of charcoal costs between Rwf7,000 and Rwf8,000 in most city suburbs.
