MUHANGA — The recent heavy down pour in Muhanga district exhumed remains of an unknown genocide victim in Ruvumera village, Nyamabuye sector.

The remains were discovered on November 2.
"I woke up early that morning after heavy rains the previous night and found the bones on the road. I called for help and when we looked closely we found old coins of Rwf40 and ragged clothes,” said Assiah Mukansine.

Mukansine, said that she does not know the victim since she has just moved to the area. But residents warned children against removing the bones, until investigations are carried out.

Meanwhile, sources say, an old man only identified as Kalifani was murdered in the same area in 2007- by people suspected of being genocide perpetrators, in order to conceal evidence on the killings there.
