AFRIMA snubs DJ Pius

DJ Pius, real name Pius Rukabuza, had a dream to sing with a ‘big name’, and it came true when early this year, he sang Agatako with Ugandan star, Jose Chameleone. Since the day the video was shot and launched, DJ Pius seems to be on every poster and Agatako seems to have become his other name since it’s added on his name all the time.

So it must be heartbreaking that the lanky DJ cum singer woke up this week to find out that Chameleone had been nominated for an All Africa Music Award for Agatako and his name was not mentioned anywhere.

The song, which was recorded in Kampala by producer Paddyman and its video shot in Kigali by Meddy, has garnered a lot of airplay on different international TV stations including Trace, MTV, Channel O and others. The awards will take place in Nigeria between 4th and 6th, November.

Wizkid to grace Kwita Izina Gala

The Kwita Izina Gala Dinner is on tonight and if there is anything that most people would be happy to get their hands on, it must be the entry ticket.

Well, to cut the long story short, your wallet must be heavy because just one ticket goes for $120 and a table of ten goes for $1000.

We are told that Nigerian music sensation Wizkid, who is also booked for the Beer Festival slated for tomorrow, will perform at the gala dinner. We have also heard that there are many other surprises that will take place at the event that is scheduled to last only five hours at the grand Kigali Convention.

We shall definitely bring you the juicy details. 

Is there more to Christopher/Kina split? 

Christopher Muneza is without a doubt one of Rwanda’s most talented musicians having emerged second in the

recent hotly contested Primus GumaGuma Super Star Season 6 competition; bagging him a cool Rwf 7.5m.

Kina Music is also a successful music label and thanks to its CEO, Clement Ishimwe’s business acumen, singers like Knowless, Tom Close and duo; Dream Boys have become household names.

So why would a winning singer and an equally winning label decide to part ways? Well, while both insist that it was a mutual agreement, word has it that Christopher felt sidelined when Ishimwe started a relationship with Knowless.

By the time the relationship became an engagement and recently a marriage, the singer is said to have started feeling like his label was not that dedicated to advancing his career.

We are also told that Christopher was also not happy about how a big chunk of the money that he won as a PGGSS prize went to his manager yet he wasn’t satisfied with how the label had handled him.

Could Christopher’s recent win be misleading him or is Ishimwe concentrating more on the girl that has now become his wife? We will leave that to you, but we can only wish the singer success.

Dr. Claude is back

One year after he left Kigali for Kenya, singer Dr. Claude, real name Jean Claude Iyamuremye, is homesick and is thinking of coming back to Rwanda.

Though none of his new songs has been playing on Rwandan airwaves since Aba Contre Succes, Baramujyanye and Igikara among others, the singer has been busy working; early this year he curtain raised for popular singers Ali Kiba and later, Jaguar before he started working on his new album that is set to be released soon.

So far, his single called Uhuru wa Mapenzi has been receiving good airplay and not before long, he expects to fly in and perhaps stage a concert. What can we say? Welcome home ‘Doctor’.

Has Uwase moved on?

Vanessa Raissa Uwase is one of those girls who are really popular but you just seem never to understand why.

Well, we won’t go into details of how she almost became Miss Rwanda 2015 because that seems like a long time ago, but we will go into her romance with Derek Sano of singing group ‘Active’, which not long ago ended so publically and shamefully that most people thought we won’t be seeing Vanessa anytime soon. Well, if you thought that you had had enough of the socialite and her romantic life, we are now told that there is a rumoured new man in her life.

Word on the street has it that the socialite has replaced her ex singer with another young man by the name of Tracy Mahommet, who sings with the group ‘TNP’.

Though Mahommet, who has previously posted photos with the socialite, took to his Facebook page to angrily deny the romance, Vanessa has been silent prompting many to think that this could be real.

Could this be a new relationship or is Uwase once again playing games with the media? Well, we will be watching.
