THE national football league has been put on hold for this weekend to pave way for the Amavubi’s international friendly against Togo on November 19.

The game between reigning champions Atraco and record nine-time champions APR was one of the fixtures scheduled for this weekend. It resumes next weekend.

Meanwhile, SC Kiyovu, the oldest football club in the club is fighting a losing battle against relegation after yet another defeat.

The troubled giants were beaten 2-0 by Kibuye on Sunday to their fourth league defeat in six matches. They stay rooted at the bottom of the table, level with La Jeunesse on two points.

With the word relegation sounding like a distant joke after the two defeats in their opening two fixtures, it is fast becoming a reality with fear now gripping the club faithful after the recent tumbling.

The win over Kiyovu was the second success in a row for Kibuye, who also stunned the champions 1-0 the previous weekend.

As the oldest club slowly falls from grace, the new kids on the block, Atraco Fc continue to control this year’s league with 15 points.

The nine-time league champions, APR are a point behind in second with Rayon Sports jumping from fifth to third following their 2-1 win over Electrogaz.

In a quick round-up of other fixtures played over the weekend, Rayon beat Electrogaz 2-1; Mukura played a 3-all draw against AS Kigali in Huye, La Jeunesse were beaten 2-1 by Police, Atraco beat Amagaju 4-0 while APR defeated Marines 3-1.
