Top notch golfers from Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and hosts Kenya will be vying for the10th East African Golf Challenge starting on Sunday.

Under the auspices of the Kenya Golf Union, the tournament is set to run from November 16-20 at Mombassa’s Leisure Lodge Golf Club.

After a shaky performance (4th) last year, Rwanda will be hoping to fall back to their glorious days of 2005 when they beat Uganda and Tanzania to second place.

This performance is still their best in the history of the competition.

This year, Kenya is chasing for an unprecedented 7th title and regular campaigners (Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda) know that they have to dig deep if they are to dislodge the defending champions in their back yard.

Tanzania who last won the title in 2001 will be relishing a fresh campaign under their new coach Charles Farrar.

The former pro-golfer is said to have given the side a fresh belief that they can dethrone Kenya.

Although a consistent team performance is of the essence in the competition, Farrar who was in Rwanda for the just ended 12th Rwanda Open will strongly rely on his top guns Hassan Kadio and Bryson Nyenza to power Tanzania through.
