RE: "Calls grow for local coach as Mulisa is handed interim role" (The New Times, August 19).

I’m curious to know who some of the local sports journalists will now blame for Amavubi’s woes since Johnny McKinstry has out of the picture. Most likely, they will soon be attacking the interim coach, Jimmy Mulisa. It’s really unfortunate that some of our sports analysts go on air and openly insult coaches and discourage players.

Second, it’s a shame that our football officials announced McKinstry’s dismissal in the media before they could inform him of the decision. How unprofessional!

Third, I think it’s wrong to blame coaches for our poor performances. I honestly don’t think we have very good players. And that’s fine. India is powerful country and they are not good at football but they are fine. And they never blame the coaches. They have instead chosen to focus where they have advantage: Cricket. 

We need to assess our competitive advantages and focus on what we can do better, such as biking.
