Does Cranes need a mathematician?

I am a keen soccer fan of the Uganda Cranes. I have been reading interesting opinions on the Zambia-South Africa African Cup match which Zambia won 3-1 including some, which have appeared in Ugandan daily news papers.

I understand patriotism and that Ugandans wanted their team to qualify for Ghana. But for one to suggest that the match was fixed so that a team from the Cosafa region should qualify is sheer escapism.

Do you know that if South Africa did not score a goal, they would have been eliminated?

If you want your team to qualify using mathematical chances, then employ a mathematician from Makerere University, KIU or any other top university in the country but not a football coach.

I think they should not take any excuses because if they had won the Lesotho game in the qualifier before playing the Niger encounter in Kampala, they would not be in this menace.

So let’s wait for the outcome of the remaining fixtures and see if they can get the chance to go to Ghana next year.
