Hosts Rwanda won basketball gold and Tanzania claimed gold in netball at the 10th edition of the East Africa Military Games that climaxed on Tuesday at Amahoro National Stadium.
Tanzanian ladies were the best in netball after winning all their games to claim a ninth title since the games started while Uganda beat Kenya 55-43 to win silver medal and Rwanda finished fourth.
Uganda’s’ Annet Nichiwu was named the top scorer of the tournament, while Rwanda Defense Force Netballer Shallotte Umugwaneza was the best defender. Tanzanian’s Nassra Suleiman was named the Most Valuable Player.
In basketball, RDF retained the title; Kenya won silver while Uganda settled for bronze after defeating Tanzania 73-57 in the last game on Tuesday.
Kenyan William Ochieng was the best defender, his teammate Eric Mutolo was named the top scorer of the tournament and Rwanda’s Steven Hagumintwali was the Most Valued Player.
In football, Kenya stunned Uganda 2-0 at the Kigali Regional stadium, while Rwanda takes on Tanzania in the last game this afternoon at Amahoro National Stadium.
