Right Guards will have something to smile about after picking up maximum points against the Utexrwa Cup defending champions Challengers on Sunday.

Responding to Challengers’ score (117), a dazzling unbeaten half century (55) from Dennis Mukama proved enough to power Right Guards to their second win in the competition.

The top order batsman cracked nine boundaries; seven (fours) and two (sixes) to record his third half century in Rwandan cricket.

Right guards won by eight wickets but the win came a little too late for them because regardless of Sunday’s result, Challengers are still through to the final where they will play Kigali Cricket Club (KCC).

Right Guards however, moved into joint third spot with Young Tigers. Meanwhile, Cricket without Boundaries (CWB) got their 13-day tour underway yesterday at Kicukiro.

The nine-man team who jetted into the country over the weekend is expected to handle about 60 kids during their stay in Rwanda.

Top on the agenda is a coaching session, umpiring sessions, sessions with the under-13 boys’ team, sessions with the girls’ national team and a session with the Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) executive.

CWB is a UK-based charity organisation which links cricket awareness, promotion and development with HIV/AIDS in school children and adults.
