Monsignor Philip Rukamba, the Bishop of Butare Diocese and the President of the Catholic Episcopal Conference of Rwand,a has advised Christians to embrace humility, love one another and avoid clinging to earthly possessions so as to live as the Virgin Mary did.
Rukamba gave the message in an interview with Sunday Times yesterday, ahead of the Assumption of Mary, which will be celebrated tomorrow.
Assumption Day is celebrated in honour of the day Mary ascended to heaven which falls on August 15.
Monsignor Rukamba noted that the Day means that Mary as the Mother of Jesus, was taken to heaven wholly body and soul thanks to her good acts and behaviour.
"Jesus Christ was taken to Heaven thanks to the his Godly power, but Mary was take to Heaven by God not only to award her for being the Mother of Jesus Christ but also for the way she lived in holiness , how she took care of Jesus along his life on Earth,’ said the bishop.
