RWANDA’S U-17 team have been tipped to make a strong come back after Saturday’s 2-1 away defeat against Burkina Faso in the qualifiers of next year’s African Youth Championship in Algeria.

The former U-17and U-23 national team head coach Aloys Kanamugire told Times Sport yesterday that the Junior Wasps can still progress to the continental show piece.

"The youngsters played well despite the defeat. They dominated the game but fell to two defensive blunders,” he said.

"I still believe that Rwanda can still overturn the result in Kigali,” Kanamugire continued. The Junior Wasps should anticipate a ferocious battle in the second round.

Coach Michael Weiss side needs a respectable lead in terms of goals against Burkina Faso to make it to Algiers.

Against Burkina Faso, Rwanda’s lone goal was converted by Ernest Kwizera who gave Rwanda a much deserved first half lead. However, the hosts fought back with two good goals to take the upper hand in Ouagadougou.

Burkina Faso now need a draw in Kigali to seal their qualification while Rwanda needs a win without conceding a goal to progress to the finals.
