Radio presenter cum singer, Uncle Austin, real name Austin Luwano, is a very frustrated man.
First, thieves broke into his home and took off with different items including his laptop which was said to be having his yet to be released songs.
Before that and over the years, the organisers of Primus GumaGuma Super Star competitions shunned him, consistently leaving him out.
He probably would have moved on but when the less competitive Salax Awards ousted their latest list of nominated artistes and his name was missing on the list, he just couldn’t hold it any further.
He took to his Facebook page where he accused the organisers of Salax Awards of receiving cash in return for the trophies. As if that wasn’t enough, he went ahead and said that he would not be intimidated by the fact that the people behind Salax Awards were mostly journalists and a direct threat to most artistes because enough was enough.
Has Uncle Austin opened a can of worms? Maybe, but one thing is for sure, Salax Awards Committee has been called out. We would like to hear what they have to say.
Singer Gaby blocked from entering US
Last week, we told you gospel crew Aline Gahongayire, Aime Uwimana and Gaby Kamanzi were heading to the United States where they were expected to sing at the Rwanda Christian Convention in Dallas, Texas.
Well, it turns out that drama is not selective. We are told that Gaby and crew flew to the international airport a few days ago but to her shock, and that of the organisers of the concert, the singer was denied entry even when her documents were in order.
No explanation was given. Instead, Gaby had to buy another ticket and return to Rwanda where true to her Christian roots, she says that failing to get to her destination was God’s plan and no further details were availed.
Themed ‘Unified Christians for a Unified Nation’ more than 500 Christians from different states of America and Canada participated and heard summons from Bishop John Rucyahana.
Nyamitari overwhelmed by FESPAD reception
Patrick Nyamitari’s vocals have earned him a place on a table of the highly talented on the local music scene. The fact that he insists on singing live music makes him the talent to watch and it was no surprise when he was recently chosen as one of the very few Rwandan artistes to perform at the recently concluded FESPAD.
Nyamitari is said to have been surprised by the response of the fans, music writers and producers to his performance that he has decided that he is going to organise a series of concerts.
The singer, who is rarely seen at concerts, started off as a gospel singer before he branched off into secular music.
Ciney’s priorities have changed
Everyone who has been following the Rwandan music scene must know singer Ciney Aisha Uwimana.
She is a feisty, beautiful and talented girl who started releasing songs and videos showing more skin than is usually seen in this country.
Well, it seems Ciney, who last released a song in 2014, is fast growing up and has realigned her priorities. The singer is said to have put music on the side as she pursues higher education on top of a full time job.
She is, however, said to be worried that her fans will forget her or think that she abandoned them, but is ready to hit the studio as soon as she puts the pen down after her last exam.
When will this be? We have no idea but we can only wish her good luck.
Knowless introduces ‘Private Pastor’ services
After weeks of drama surrounding their nuptials, singer Knowless Butera and the man behind the Kina Music Label, Clement Ishimwe, are now officially a married couple, but not without leaving us a parting gift.
It is not uncommon for churches to require that you are a member before they join you in Holy Matrimony and when the famous couple couldn’t prove that to any of the churches, they took matters into their hands and found a ‘Private Pastor’ who goes by the name Dr. Joshua Rusine.
As if to prove that they would have the last laugh, the couple’s union was blessed at a wedding reception at Golden Tulip, something that the Seventh Day Adventist Church had apparently frowned at.
What we are not sure about is whether by giving private services, the pastor is paid or not.
