I&M Bank Rwanda will continue to support initiatives that deepen financial inclusion by developing innovative and affordable products, the bank managing director, Robin Bairstow, has said.
Bairstow added that the lender is also creating opportunities for clients to use its services to save and create wealth.
He was speaking at the hand over of cash prizes to the first two ‘Kira’ campaign winners in Kigali on Wednesday. Nathan Mugisha, a resident of Rusizi District, and Jean Mukakabanda won Rwf1 million each.
The three-month ‘Kira’ campaign (I&M Riches) seeks to encourage Rwandans, particularly retail and small-and-medium-enterprises (SMEs), to open bank accounts and electronic banking services.
People who open accounts during the campaign receive free additional services, like free visa cards, free online and mobile banking, and also stand a chance to win weekly cash prizes.
Bairstow said it is important for Rwandans to embrace cards to benefit from electronic services such as e-banking and e-water bill payment.
Speaking at the event, Mugisha said he will add the cash to his savings and buy a plot of land.
To participate in the promotion, interested salaried individuals or business owners can visit the nearest I&M Bank branch and register.
There will be a grand prize of Rwf5 million at the close of the campaign period.
