POLICE FC chairman Colonel (retired) Louis ‘Dodo’ Twahirwa has urged the team to win trophies next season, which will kick off next month.

While unveiling their new signings on Monday, Twahirwa also commended the continued support by the Rwanda National Police (RNP) leadership, making the team genuine contenders for silverware.

"The new blood (players and coaches) in the team will boost the squad in terms of playing and coaching for the 2016/2017 season; this will as well cover up the gap left by some of the players who committed their future to other clubs,” he said.

Col. Dodo added that, "Winning the league could probably be a tall order next season, nonetheless we need to challenge, that’s our ambition, and win the Peace Cup. With these new players and coaching staff, we have to be a team which can compete for titles every year.”

Twahirwa asked players to make good use of the support from RNP leadership to ensure the team wins some silverware next season.

Newly appointed Police FC head coach Innocent Seninga has been tasked to win at least one trophy next season—he takes over from Andre Casa Mbungo, who was sacked last month.

Speaking to Times Sport on Tuesday, Seninga said, "I am happy with my new role. My mission is to improve the team’s performance. We need to play well in order to get good results. So it is about getting our tactics right that we will see Police playing good football.”

The 2014 Peace Cup winners, unveiled nine new players ahead of next season as they seek to improve on the disappointing 2015/16 campaign in which the club finished 5th in the league season and were knocked out of the Peace Cup at the round of 16 by Amagaju FC.

Police FC’s new signings include; Hussein Habimana, Danny Nduwayo,  Milafa Nizeyimana, Celestin Ndayishimiye, Amini Mwizerwa, Jean Bosco Akayezu, Antoine Dominique Ndayishimiye, Christophe Biramahire and Olivier Usabimana.

The club also introduced the three-man technical team of Seninga (head coach), his assistant Justin Bisengimana and Claude Maniraho (goalkeeping coach).
