Rwandan coach Andre Casa Mbungo is in talks with Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Bandari FC for position of head coach.

Bandari has not had a head coach since parting ways with Twahir Muhiddin in May 2016.

"I am travelling to Kenya to meet the bosses of Bandari but nothing has been agreed yet. In a few days we will know what will happen but the truth is that we are in talks,” Mbungo said before his departure, at Kigali International Airport on Tuesday.

Apart from the former Police FC tactician, other coaches including Spanish Antonio Flores have also expressed interest in the job.

The 47-year-old Rwandan was relieved of his duties at Police FC in June 2016 after failing to deliver a trophy for the club during the previous local football season.

However, Mbungo is the only coach in Rwandan football history who has ever won Peace Cup titles with two different clubs. He first won the cup with AS Kigali in 2013 before repeating the feat with Police FC in 2015, then captained by current Kenya’s Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge. Casa Mbungo started his coaching career in 1993 as a youth football coach in different academies in Burundi and then Rwanda before he was appointed head coach of APR FC junior team, from 1998 through 2002.

Later, he joined Rwandatel FC where he was put in charge of the second division team between 2002 and 2004. He moved to AS Kigali (2004-2006), then called Les Citadins, where he served in a similar position.

Following two relatively successful years with AS Kigali, Mbungo moved to SC Kiyovu in the 2006/2007 season.

From 2007-2009, he was in charge of Police FC before switching to second division side SEC Academy where he worked for three years (2009 to 2012). 

Later, he returned to Police FC as head coach before he was relieved of his duties two months ago after he fared poorly both in the league and Peace Cup.
