RE: "Education means responsibility, President Kagame tells fresh graduates” (The New Times, July 30). Education is of vital importance to any country and in any society. While the University of Rwanda and other tertiary institutions in the country lay a good foundation, the Government of Rwanda, through its various initiatives, educate citizens on responsibility.
One such initiative is Umuganda. This unique and effective programme has inculcated a sense of responsibility among all citizens to keep their surroundings neat and clean and take ownership for the same.
Another initiative is the reconciliation programme which every student has to undergo before leaving the portals of high school.
Congratulations to all those who graduated!
