Jean Baptiste Hakizimana scorched to a fourth-round 73 to claim the Rwanda Open title, his first major title in the paid ranks.

The 19-year-old Rwandan - chasing his first title started the final day one-stroke behind defending champion and round-three leader Emmanuel Ruterana but a quick birdie on the sixth hole took him upfront and he didn’t look back from then.

Hakizimana, sponsored by MTN Rwanda cell attributed his win to consistence.

"I pulled through because I was consistence with my performances,” he said.

Uganda’s Godfrey Mande finished second with 288 while Ruterana claimed third spot with 292 after a tough final round (78).
