After emerging the winner of the ‘Race for Culture’ from Nyamagabe to Nyanza (119,6km) on Saturday, Hadi Janvier has vowed to win more races as he eyes to be declared the 2016 Cycling Cup champion.

The Benediction cycling club, rider clocked 3 hours, 26 minutes and 17 seconds to win the ‘Race for Culture’.

"I am delighted that I won race. It was my chance because I was riding with many inexperienced riders. I want to win more races which can help me to become overall winner,” the 25-year-old said.

17-year-old, Janvier Rugamba of Amis Sportifs won the junior category with 98.8km and his teammate, Rene Ukiniwabo, 18 was the best rider in the U-23 category.

In the women category, Eritrean Dawit Mengis Yohana, who is in training from Musanze Cycling Center emerged the winner of the race. The ‘Race for Culture’ was organized to recognize the heritage of Rwanda as Nyanza was home to the King’s Palace which has since become a museum.

The race will continue on August 6, for the Northern Race: Rubavu-Musanze + Circuits while on August, 20, it will be Muhazi Challenge: Kigali-Rwamagana + Circuits before competing for the Kivu Belt: Karongi-Rusizi and Nyungwe Challenge: Rusizi-Huye while the last race will be on September 10-Central Challenge: Kigali-Muhanga + Circuits.
