Rwanda Cricket Association development team became the last team to book their place in the semi-finals of this year’s Computer Point Twenty20 tournament.

Formed only two months ago, the youthful team, made of players aged 19 years and below, qualified for the last four after defeating Right Guards CC by 92 runs on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket ground.

Right Guards, led by World record holder for the longest battling in nets, Eric Dusingizimana, won the toss and opted to bowl first, and RCA dev’t team made 176 runs in 20 overs for a loss of 6 wickets.

In reply, the more experienced Right Guards were bowled out for 85 runs in 15 overs.

RCA dev’t team’s Orchide Tuyisenge continued his impressive form in this tournament after making 33 runs in 20 balls which included one 6 and four 4s.

The 16-year-old was well supported by Eric Niyomugabo and Adrien Tuyizere, who both made 27 runs as the debutants eliminated Right Guards from the competition.

Dusingizimana, who also doubles as national team captain, faced only two balls as he was bowled out in the 1st over without scoring a run.

Jean Claude Siboniyo was Right Guards’ most outstanding player, making 22 runs off 23 balls while Don Mugisha managed only 13 runs in 11 balls.

"Our aim is to make history by winning this competition,” said Tuyisenge before adding that, "We shall continue to work hard in the next game. The entire team is not scared about the semi-final encounter against defending champions, Challengers CC.”

The other semi-final will be between Indorwa CC and Kigali Cricket Club.
