Rwanda’s professional rookie Jean Baptist Hakizimana rose to the occasion on day two after returning scores of 70.

This score coupled with his day one score of 71 gave him a two-shot lead over reigning champion Emmanuel Ruterana and Kenya’s David Odiambo.

Uganda’s seasoned golfer Deo Akope is nine shots off the pace after returning scores of 78 and 72 respectively.

In the amateur’s category, Jack Kayonga took day one after a compelling 69net. Davis Kashaka (73net) finished second after beating Olivier Munyaneza on count back.
